The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions for undergraduate degrees. It is an objective type, paper-based test formed and controlled by the College Board.
Objective – to measure a high school student’s willingness for college. Overall, the better your scores are on the SAT, the more alternatives for universities you will get to choose from.
SAT is a 3 hours long test and you can add 50 more minutes to it if you are opting for an Optional Essay as well. It has 2 compulsory and 1 optional section.
The 2 compulsory sections are:SAT Essay scores are reported separately from overall test scores. Specific University may require that you complete the SAT Essay. Therefore, you should research well about the university’s specifications before you chose to skip the Essay. Apart for this general SAT, you can also appear for SAT Subject Tests if your chosen university demands for it. The process for registering and the test structure remains the same for it as well.
Each section of the SAT is scored on a 200 minimum to 800 maximum point scale. SAT score is the amount of your section scores. The highest being1600. Essay is scored separately.
Usually SAT happens 5 times in a year and you can register for it till five weeks prior to the test date. The registration process is online through the following website-

For identification purposes, upload a picture of yourself.
Once your registration is complete, be sure to print out your Admission Ticket, as you’ll need it on the day of your test.
